Pastor Travis Gets Jiggy with the Power Point (and moves out of the Stone Age)

The Bulletin - You may have noticed that the bulletin looks a little different this Sunday. As one of the many cost-cutting actions we're taking to reduce expenses, we've reduced the size of the bulletin. In order to avoid, as much as possible, cutting funding for important ministries, we are making all of the cuts like this that we can.

The 2009 Budget - With the economy in recession and many people at Highlands struggling with finances, the Elders and Deacons have cut out budget for 2009. Giving, while a bit weaker than last year, has not completely fallen off, but it seems prudent to us to cut spending and replentish our emergency fund so that we don't end up either a) in debt or b) not able to meet our commitments. We hope that giving stays stable for a while so we can replentish our emergency fund.

Children's Ministry Need - We need a teacher for Sunday School. The need is immediate. This is a wonderful way to build into the lives of children, find joy in ministry, and fulfill your vows to help parents raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Wednesday Night Children and Youth - Awana and the Youth Group resume this Wednesday. Elder Dan Hudson is teaching the Senior High and Pastor Travis is teaching the Middle School.

Purpose Meeting - The officers and their wives will be having their quarter Purpose Meeting this Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Travis and Kimberly's house.

Tennessee Valley Presbytery will be meeting at Highlands on Saturday, January 10. Please talk to Cathy Anderson if you can help with hospitality.

In the unity of the Godhead there be three Persons of one substance, power, and eternity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. The Father is of none, neither begotten nor proceeding; the Son is eternally begotten of the Father; the Holy Ghost eternally proceeding from the Father and the Son.
